Day 1 |

Ch 1 |
Morning | Kino and Juana wake up - scorpion - their baby boy, Coyotito is stung. | ||||||
| They go to the doctor's house. | |||||||||
| The doctor is having his breakfast - not willing to help. | |||||||||
| Ch 2 | Midday? | Kino, Juana and Coyotito go pearl-diving in their canoe. | |||||||
| Kino finds a giant pearl. | |||||||||
| Coyotito is getting better. | |||||||||
| Ch 3 | Afternoon | In the brush house Kino shows the pearl to his neighbours. | |||||||
| The Priest comes. | |||||||||
| The doctor and his servant come. | |||||||||
| The doctor gives Coyotito some white powder. | |||||||||
| Someone tries to enter the brush house - Kino strikes at him with his knife. | |||||||||
| Juana is worried - feels that the pearl will destroy them. | |||||||||
|
Day 2 |
|||||||||
| Ch 4 | Morning | Kino and Juana go to the pearl buyers to sell their pearl. | |||||||
| The pearl buyers drive a hard bargain and Kino refuses to sell the pearl. | |||||||||
| Evening | Kino and Juan Tomas (his brother) talk about selling the pearl in the capital. | ||||||||
| Afterwards Kino is attacked as he steps outside his brush house. Kino is wounded - a long deep cut down the side of his face. | |||||||||

Ch 5 |
Night | Juana
tries to throw the pearl back into the sea. She is stopped by Kino who takes the pearl from her. |
|||||||
| Kino is attacked by at least two men - he kills one man and loses the pearl | |||||||||
| Juana
finds the pearl and hands it to Kino who is lying in the path. They plan to flee, - but someone has knocked a hole in their canoe. Juana fetches Coyotito. Their brush house is put on fire. |

Day 3 |
|||||||||
| Dawn | They hide in Juan Tomas' house. | ||||||||
| They decide to go to one of the cities up north. | |||||||||
| They
spend the day in Juan Tomas' house - hiding |
|||||||||
| Evening | Juan
Tomas brings them a knife and some food. |
||||||||
|
Ch 6 |
Night | They leave La Paz before the moon is up. | |||||||
| They
walk all night. |
|||||||||
|
Day 4 |
|||||||||
| Dawn | They hide. | ||||||||
| Trackers follow them. | |||||||||
| Kino
and Juana flee into the mountains with their baby. |
|||||||||
| Sundown | They
hide in a cave near a spring - high in the mountains |
||||||||
| Night | One
of the trackers fires a shot which kills Coyotito. Kino attacks the trackers and kills them |
||||||||
|
Day 5 |
|||||||||
|
Late afternoon |
Kino
and Juana return to La Paz, carrying their dead baby. They walk through the town, down to the beach. Kino throws the pearl with all his strength back into the sea. |

|
